10 ways to Increase Traffic to Your Website using Stumble Upon!!

StumbleUpon is a social networking website that allows users to share and recommend sites they find around the internet. To get started using StumbleUpon you need to first install the toolbar on your internet browser which is currently only compatible with Internet Explorer and FireFox.

Several ways I used to get traffic from StumbleUpon >>

1. First of all you have to set up an account at http://www.stumbleupon.com.Next, you’ll be directed to “Join and Download Now.” The “download” part means that you’ll be downloading the SU toolbar, which is vital to getting the most out of SU.

2. Start adding friends. You can do this by allowing SU to search your email address book for people who are already SU users. Click the “Connect with friends” button on the right hand side of the page.

3.Start stumbling Websites >>

To stumble a post click on the title of the post so that you’re on the direct URL to the post you wish to stumble. Rather than stumble an entire site, stumble specific posts on a site.Hit the “thumbs up/I like it!” button, If it hasn’t already been stumbled, then a box will appear where you’ll write a little review. You’ll also be asked to put it in a category.

4. A great way to stumble upon sites is to simply hit the “Stumble” button. You can choose the category of what you want to stumble simply by choosing under the “all” button. Scroll down and choose your category.

5. One more way to stumble is to stumble the sites my friends have stumbled upon. You do this by hitting the button that looks like two people side by side.


6. You can send your favorite sites to the friends you’ve made on SU to ask for a review or to just send them something you really enjoyed by hitting the “Send to” button.

7. Submit new webpages >
Submit your posts URL to StumbleUpon using the toolbar. You can promote your onw pages but don't overdo it. This way can help you to increase the backlinks to your posts and thus can increase your PR. With more links at StumbleUpon, you will be able to improve your post visibility and get more traffic.

8.Use Multiple tags >
Using multiple tags can help you to target wider range of users. Thus help you get even more traffic from StumbleUpon!

9.DON’T ONLY STUMBLE YOUR OWN POSTS >

Not all of your content will get stumbled and drive tonnes of traffic to your site. If you are continually submitting your own content to SU on a daily basis you can expect your account and site to get banned. I have read countless times of users getting banned from SU for abusing the system.

10.Include the Stumbleupon Button on Your Site

You may think that this is not necessary since people can just give a thumbs up in their toolbar. This is not the case. Including a prominently displayed Stumbleupon button will increase the amount of votes and reviews you get. Stumbleupon has a page of instructions which make the process of adding a button quite easy.

Google Analytics Changes

Google’s web stats tool Google Analytics is rolling out a new intro page. On the upside, you can now directly see if the traffic to a certain site increased in the last specific time period. A red arrow pointing down means your site’s losing visitors, a green arrow pointing upwards means it gets more. This should be great for spotting sudden peaks, especially on sites which you’re not watching as closely everyday; and sometimes, such peaks may require you to take action.

On the downside, this somewhat crowded interface doesn’t seem to include the option to permalink, because configuring the overview page won’t result in a new URL – it’s all client-side dynamics, meaning your view will be lost as soon as you leave the page. If, for instance, you’d like the overview to contain only starred sites within a time frame of the last week, you’d have to click “Starred” and then “Week” every time.

By now, you may also find Custom Reporting and Advanced Segments in your Analytics account. Also look for a “Visualize” button on top of some report pages, like the Traffic Sources -> Keywords page. This allows you to view the evolution of your numbers, animated over time. Furthermore, Google rolls out AdSense integration for Analytics; they suggest you look out for an invitation link to this feature at the top of your AdSense account. You’ll then supposedly see this feature in Analytics within Content -> AdSense (I don’t have it yet).

Oddly, Analytics was also showing a direct HTML overlay to me when I opened blogoscoped.com just now (displaying click-throughs for certain links and such), even though I didn’t specifically enable this today, and didn’t even have an Analytics window open.

Why Nobody Wants To Read Your Crappy Blog | 8 Reasons

Do you have a blog? Is hardly anybody reading it? If so, there is probably a reason. Most blogs are pretty horrible, and most of these horrible blogs make at least one of the mistakes you will find below.

#1) Ugly Layout

Nobody is going to come back to a blog that is really ugly. You know what I am talking about. No matter how good the content is on a blog, if the blog looks like it has been hit by an ugly stick then you are stone cold out of luck.

Looks matter. If you want to have a successful blog, then you MUST have an attractive looking blog. This is the real world. Get used to it.

#2) Too Many Ads

People don't come to your blog for ads. It is okay to have ads. Just don't wrap your blog posts from head to toe with obnoxious ads that are going to give people a headache.
People are going to be pissed at you if they see Adsense at the top, middle and bottom of each article. They are going to be pissed if stuff starts popping up over the top of everything.

And you know what? Pissed off people won't come back to your blog.

#3) Your Site Is Too Slow

Do you want to know how much time you have got to get the attention of someone new who visits your site?

About 5 seconds.

If your site doesn't load quickly you are dead.

So don't splash all of the latest obnoxious widget all over your blog.

Think simple.

#4) You Never Update Your Blog

If people are going to follow a blog they expect it to be updated once in a while. If the last time you updated your blog it looked like Hillary Clinton was going to be president, then you have a problem.

Seriously, if you want your blog to succeed at all, you have to update it at least a couple of times per week. Otherwise you might as well forget it.

#5) Heavy Handed Moderating

We have all seen these blogs, haven't we? The new blog owner thinks that he or she is a little Saddam Hussein and starts insulting visitors and deleting everything in sight.

People do not come to your blog to be bullied by you. Owning a blog does not put you in a position of power. Get over it. Be nice to the people who visit your blog. They might actually come back.

#6) Lack Of Moderation

This is the flip side of the problem above. Some people do not moderate their blog at all, and it ends up being a spamfest filled with shout outs for male enhancement products.

Who wants to visit that?

So pay attention to what is going on in your blog.

#7) Your Writing Stinks

If you have this problem, then you might as well stop blogging. Or go back to school.

Seriously.

People are coming to your blog to read your writing.

If your writing stinks, people are not going to come back.

#8) You Don't Publicize Your Blog

This is one of the easiest problems to cure. If you do not let people know your blog exists, then you will get very, very few visitors.

Why should people visit your blog and not one of the other 150 million blogs out there that look exactly like yours?

How are people going to find your blog when it is one the 57th page of Google searches?
